The Institute

School of Financial Technology

Algorithmic trading, AI systems, and market infrastructure.

The school of the machinery. It studies the systems that carry a market — how strategies are expressed in code, how automation is supervised, and what actually happens between an order and a fill.

What this school covers

Algorithmic trading

Turning a discretionary idea into explicit rules, and the testing that shows whether the rules held outside the sample that produced them.

AI in finance

Where statistical and machine-learning methods genuinely help, where they overfit, and why a model that cannot be interrogated cannot be trusted with capital.

Trading automation

Supervision, failure modes and kill switches — automation as a system that must be monitored, not a decision that has been delegated.

Financial technology

The platforms, APIs and data pipelines that connect a participant to a market, and the operational risks each one introduces.

Market infrastructure

Venues, brokers, liquidity, order routing and settlement: the path an order travels and who is involved at each step.

Market intelligence

Building information systems that surface what changed and why, instead of adding to the noise a screen already produces.

How this school teaches

Technology is taught here as something that must be understood before it is trusted. A system is introduced together with its failure modes, because automation scales mistakes at exactly the speed it scales everything else.

The institutional position is unchanged throughout: technology informs, and the person remains accountable for the decision. Automated tools carry the same market risk as manual trading, and add operational risk of their own.
